Manchester City have been embroiled in a series of legal disputes in recent days, and former French soccer superstar Benjamin Wendy is one of them. He earlier accused City of failing to pay him £1 million in wages, and the Labor Court ruled in favor of Wendy's claim on Wednesday (6), requiring City to refund his "unreasonably unpaid" wages, which are estimated to be as much as £8.5 million.
Recall that three years ago, Venditti was suspended and had his wages frozen by Manchester City until the case was closed due to an alleged sexual assault case. However, after the case was finally acquitted, Venditti filed a claim against City for 22 months of unpaid wages. On Wednesday, the Labor Court ruled in favor of Venditti, finding that he was "ready" and "willing" to continue playing football at the time, but was unjustifiably prevented from doing so by City.
Nonetheless, the judge also noted that the full £11 million claimed by Venditti would be awarded, as he was detained for breaching the terms of his bail, and that the claim was for a period of five months. The initial estimate of £8.5million compensation will need to be taken into account in the final calculation of City's total compensation. Venditti, 30, currently plays for French Ligue 2 soccer club Lorient.
