Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) nightmare run in the UEFA Europa League continues. In the early hours of Thursday morning (7), they were beaten 2-1 by Sporting Madrid, and despite taking the lead at home, they were unable to escape defeat. The team is now in the midst of a Europa League elimination crisis, which coach Anriki described as being straight out of a horror movie.
PSG started the matchup with a strong start, with Saeemeli giving his team the lead in the 14th minute, however, the advantage was equalized just four minutes later. Despite PSG's onslaught, they were never able to convert their goal. Instead, in stoppage time, Sporting Club de Madrid managed to score the winning goal thanks to a long pass from Kishavin and a sharp breakaway from Anzuglia. PSG swallowed a 1-2 defeat when Kianlucki pointed Lomma's five fingers to the sky.
There are 36 teams in this year's Euroleague, and as long as they are ranked 24th or lower, they still have a chance to advance. However, PSG is currently ranked 25th after four rounds of matches with only four points (one win and one loss). After the match, Coach Anriki said, "I'm very disappointed, it's like watching a horror movie. I think it's fair. The ECHL has been on a downward trend this year. I've never experienced multiple injustices in a row. I have four more games to go and I'm not going to take it lightly."
