With the new season dawning, Schlow took over from Gopp's lineup and got Liverpool off to a promising start. But Schlow was not all for the mark left by Gopp. In fact, he has shown a firm rejection of Gopp's former residence. That property in Liverpool, with a reported market value of £4 million (about HK$400 million), failed to become Schlow's choice.
Reports in the British press indicated that the club leased a spacious home after Gopp's departure, while Schlow chose to make his home elsewhere. Although he had visited the building with his wife, he ultimately opted for another place. Liverpool then decided to put the mansion on the market, given Schlow's desire to shed the extra property and avoid wasting resources.
The property has been linked to a number of Liverpool legends, having been purchased by legendary captain Tony Blind in 2005, and then passed on to then-coach Rodgers in 2015 when Blind moved to a vocational school in the United States. Rogers, who stepped down shortly afterward, kept the property and rented it to Gopp until 2019, when Liverpool purchased the house and offered it to Gopp for free.
