United and Fehrenbach drew 1-1 in the Europa League, with wing forward Amit Diarou coming on for the injured Anthony Mathias in the 89th minute at a crucial moment. The 22-year-old Ivorian appeared down in the dressing room and appeared to be resistant to coming on as a substitute until he was encouraged by assistant coach Yannis Dallaire. According to The Sun, Amit Diarou is unhappy with his long spell on the bench and has plans to turn down a contract extension and is expected to leave United next summer.

Since joining United from Atalanta in January 2021, Amit Diarou has not been able to get enough playing time. He has had brief loan spells with Rangers and Newlands. At the start of the season, he shone and was once named United's Player of the Month for August, however, he then suffered a cold shoulder from leader Tannhäuser. In the last two Premier League games, he has finally found his form.

Prior to the game against Fehrenbach, it was widely expected that Amit Diarou would start the game, but he ended up on the bench. Had it not been for the unfortunate injury to Anthony Mafioso when he was left without a substitute, it was feared that the entire crowd would have been experiencing what it was like to watch the game once again. His substitute entrance was visible with a heavy face.

Amit Diarou's future will be revealed next summer. Although United have the right of first refusal to extend his contract, recent talks between the two sides have not been optimistic. Not wanting to waste his career waiting, Amit Diaru may choose to leave United next summer.
