Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez announced the end of his 17-year career with the national team this morning, as the morning light dawned in Hong Kong on Saturday. After the upcoming showdown with Paraguay, he will devote himself to the Miami Internationals in the United States.

Suarez, in a grand press conference, firmly declared: this fierce battle with Paraguay will be my curtain call for the national team. After much deliberation, I have decided to say goodbye to the international arena and return to my family. And in this farewell match, I will bring the same passion that I had when I joined the national team in 2007 to fight to the best of my ability.

Suarez, the legendary striker of the Uruguayan national team, contributed 69 goals and 39 assists in 142 matches, making him one of the highest goal scorers in the history of the Uruguayan national team, second only to teammate Gaudín's 161. In the 2011 Copa América, Suarez's outstanding performance helped Uruguay to win the trophy.
