A renowned powerhouse in the Dutch Eredivisie, Ajax, welcomed a new 32-year-old striker on Friday (30), Weghese, who has signed a two-year contract with the club following his move from Generali. This is the Dutch international's return to the Dutch Eredivisie since his departure six years ago, and he revealed that he joined Ajax this time to fulfill his grandfather's unfinished wish.

Wegergers has played for various Dutch teams since his early years, including Amman, Hovacos and Alkmaar. This year he will officially join Ajax on the 25th. Talking about the story behind his decision, he said with a twinkle in his eye: "My grandfather was a big fan of Ajax. Before I made the move, my dad and I were picking out jersey numbers together. I asked my grandpa if he had a particular favorite number on the edge, but my dad had forgotten it. It wasn't until I saw the number 25 that my grandfather used for his jersey, and when I returned from England and the number 25 was on my hotel room card, I knew deep down that it was God's will and that I needed that number.

Two years ago, Wegeghese joined Bonny and spent the last two seasons before being loaned out to Beasidas and Manchester United after the last two seasons. Despite this, the Dutch national team has continued to give him heavy use and he has excelled in his role as a substitute hitman in the team.
