As many soccer fans know from the term "Crystal Palace's shining star", the Ivorian shot-stopper was the subject of an attempted recall by Crystal Palace this summer. Unfortunately, the plan to bring back the Ivorian shot-stopper was ultimately aborted due to the stringent British tax laws.
Werfelt Sachs, 31, a product of Crystal Palace's youth program, has played for the team for 13 years, scoring 90 goals in 458 matches in the Premier League and Championship. He has been honored as the "Crystal Palace King of Balls" as he has been able to support half of the team on his own. Last year, Sascha said goodbye to Crystal Palace and went to Galatasaray in Turkey to realize his dream of playing in the UEFA Europa League. However, he seems to have lost his way this season, which has attracted the attention of Crystal Palace and Leicester City, both of whom are hoping to bring him back to the English top flight.
However, the British tax policy has become a stumbling block on the way to the transfer. According to the British tax law, if a player leaves the country within five years and then returns as a foreigner, he will be taxed in the UK at the same time as his country of origin (Turkey), which multiplies the cost of bringing in Sascha, and two major Premier League clubs have been discouraged from doing so.
