Tottenham lost top scorer Harry Carney in last summer's transfer market, and the team's attacking power was damaged as a result, resulting in their failure to finish in the top four of the Premier League last season. Having learned a bitter lesson, Tottenham Hotspur will not hesitate to splash out a lot of money this summer to look for new recruits. According to the Daily Mail, the club has agreed to bring in Nemouth striker Solanki for a record price of £65 million (about HK$645 million), setting a new record for a club transfer fee. The two sides will sign a six-year long-term deal as soon as the medical is cleared.

Solanki's current contract with Niemouf is due to expire in five years and contains a £65 million release clause. However, Tottenham have decided to pocket the money outright, a move which has been strongly opposed by Niemouf.

The 26-year-old Solanki, who trained with Chelsea's youth team before moving to Liverpool but failed to gain traction, joined up with Ponemouth in 2019 and went on to win the Champions League title with the team for the second consecutive season. The England international made 38 appearances in the Premier League last season, contributing 19 goals in an eye-catching performance that made Tottenham waste no time in bringing him in.

It's worth noting that if Tottenham do complete the purchase of Solanki for £65m, then Liverpool will be entitled to £9m in compensation.
