A SPOR from Turkey is reporting that a top club, Galatasaray, has agreed salary details with Manchester United midfield star McTomini. The 27-year-old Scotland international will be able to walk away with an annual salary of €5.5 million once he joins. The key to the deal now lies in waiting for United's final decision.
United had planned to sell McTominney this summer to attract the attention of clubs including Tottenham and Fulham. Among them, Galatasaray made the most aggressive offer, paying 15 million euros (about HK$127 million) upfront. However, United considered the offer too low and insisted on €30 million (about HK$255 million) to release the player.
Both sides seem to be heading towards the mid-price of €20 million (about HK$169 million). Meanwhile, McTomini has accepted Galatasaray's salary offer and I'm sure the transfer will be finalized soon.
Despite making 43 appearances for Manchester United last season, contributing 10 goals and 3 assists, McTominney has yet to become a first-team starter. The club is planning a massive purge this summer to raise funds for a "big change", and McTomini is unlucky to be on that list.
