A breathtaking comeback was on schedule at the Olympic Women's Soccer Tournament, as the Australian women's soccer team from Group B, who were down by three goals at one point in the match, completed a thrilling comeback in the 90th minute to beat the Zambian women's soccer team by a score of 6-5 and keep their hopes of advancing. Meanwhile, the Canadian women's soccer team, who were deducted six points for the drone incident, beat the French women's soccer team 2-1 in Group A. After winning both matches, their points became zero, and the final round of the tournament became a make-or-break battle for them to advance to the final round of the tournament.

In their first match against the German women's soccer team, the Australian women's soccer team had suffered a 3-goal defeat. However, in this match, they fell behind after just one minute of the opening match. Zambian striker Binda scored three goals in the first half to put Australia 2-4 down at half time. Zambia quickly added a second goal before Australia scored three goals in a row to turn the game around. Three goals in a row from the 58th to the 78th minute brought the score to 5-5, and towards the end of the match, Australia's veteran goalkeeper Hirving scored a killer shot to dramatically bring the score to 6-5.

After two consecutive losses, Zambia's chances of advancing were slim. However, 38-year-old veteran Zuna made history with a single victory. A former track and field athlete, she represented Zambia in the 400 meters at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Now, she stands again as a women's soccer player and is Zambia's Olympic representative. Australia is currently in Group B with 1 win and 1 loss, and will be looking for 1 point in their next match against the USA Women's Soccer Team in order to get out of the tournament.

The second round of the women's soccer team group stage came to an end, with the U.S. women's soccer team in Group B and the Spanish women's soccer team in Group C both winning two consecutive matches and advancing to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
