Manchester City coach Diego Goddiona has just one final year left on his contract and speculation is rife that the English FA have targeted the 53-year-old Spanish coach with the intention of recruiting him next summer with a view to making a mark at the 2026 World Cup. But in an interview, Godiona expressed his vision. The Blue Moon will indirectly respond to the Three Lions' offer if he extends his contract.
Faced with the question of whether or not to stay, Gordiona confessed: I do feel that the distance between me and Manchester City is drawing closer, but I have never announced that I am leaving, and I have never ruled out the possibility of renewing my contract, but I just want to assess whether this is the best option for me and the players first. My love for City runs deep and I really want to continue playing for this team.
In charge of Manchester City since 2016, Godiona has led the team to six Premier League titles, two English soccer team titles, four English league titles, one Europa League title and one World Champions League title. In particular, in the 2022/23 season, he led City to become triple champions of the Europa League, the Premier League and the English soccer team, and for a while it seemed that Godiona was ready to retire on his laurels.
England has finished second in two consecutive European Cups. After the resignation of team leader Shuufki, the FA intends to invite Gordiona to take over, hoping that he can help the Three Lions to break the drought of more than half a century of championships. However, judging from the current situation, this plan may be difficult to achieve.
