The Ecuadorian soccer world is in mourning, as SC Basiloneros announced with sadness on Wednesday (17) that the key match against Barclays Premier League rivals Red Bull Paracanteno, scheduled for Thursday (18), has been put on hold after the unexpected death of 20-year-old starlet Gonizou. However, despite the tragedy, the match will go ahead as scheduled.
In an official statement from SC Basilona, they expressed their sadness at the passing of Gonzou: "Words cannot heal the grief in our hearts, the precious memories you left behind will always light up our path forward, Gonzou, you will live forever in our hearts, may you rest in peace!"
It was reported that Gonzalo was found unconscious in the bathroom and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.SC Basilona immediately announced the suspension of all club activities and the Copa Sudamericana matches scheduled for Thursday are yet to be decided by the South American Football Association (SAFA) whether or not to go ahead as usual.
