On Tuesday (16), Malaysian-born South Korean coach Kim Jee Gon, a soccer great who has coached in Hong Kong, suddenly handed in his resignation for personal reasons. His next stop is believed to be a return to his homeland to take charge of Ulsan HD.

Kim Jong-kun played for Hong Kong as a player and made a magnificent transition to coaching after his retirement. He was in charge of the South China team and led the Hong Kong soccer team to a gold medal at the East Asian Games in 2009. he was the head coach of the Hong Kong national team from 2012 to 2017 before leaving to join the South Korean football team. he was appointed to take over the Malaysian team at the beginning of 2022, and earlier this year played out a 3-3 draw with Asian powerhouse South Korea.

Despite Malaysia finishing third in Group D of the second round of the Asian zone and not advancing, Kim Jong Gon's departure has brought a new turnaround for the team. It is rumored that the Spanish coach will take his place and Kim Judge Gon will once again return to Korean soccer as the coach of the Ulsan HD professional team.
