In a surprise announcement in the soccer transfer market on Wednesday (17), Saudi Arabia's powerhouse Etihad announced that Serie A giants Roma have managed to sign Algerian international Aioa for a transfer fee of €12 million. The 26-year-old midfielder signed a four-year contract with Roma.

Aioa had previously joined Roma as a free agent, but unfortunately, he didn't get much of a chance to play in his debut season at Roma. The new Etihad manager Branz favored him and initiated a decisive buy-back, a three-pronged approach that led to the transfer.

French-born Aioua, whose family background is Algerian, represented France throughout his youth. It was not until last year that he made the decision to represent the Algerian national team.

At the Etihad, Aioa will join the ranks of France's famous Brancus and will play alongside French stars Benschmar and Nicolai Gendi. This transfer will definitely strengthen the "French gang" in Etihad's squad.
