On the final night of the European Group D, France and Poland battled in a tense affair, while the Netherlands and Austria faced off with passion. French star Kylian Mbappe, who recovered amazingly quickly from a broken nose and played with a mask on, opened the scoring with a powerful 12-yard shot. But Robert Livendowski's 12-yard equalizer made it 1-1, and Austria beat the Netherlands 3-2 to top the group, while France finished second in the group and faces a worrying battle against Portugal, Germany and Spain.

In France, Marcus Dulin was dropped to the bench, Kishavin was replaced and Barthelemy started in place of Kylian Mbappe; Poland made five changes for their early exit. Skorubisky replaced Stjesny and captain Robert Livundowski made his debut. France were the first to strike, with Dio Boots Nandis and Oswin Nidibili both having good chances to score, but Poland's Skorubisky blocked their shots. Kylian Mbappe went close on the stroke of half-time but Skorubisky converted in time.

In the second half, Mbappe, in his "masked man" guise, was looking for a goal, but Skorubisky blocked him again. Oswin Nidibili scored a 12-yard goal in the 56th minute and Kylian Mbappe followed up with a shot to give France a 1-0 lead. However, France's attacking tempo slowed down and Poland took advantage of the counter-attack, with Robert Ljwendowski missing a good chance. Poland were awarded a 12-yarder, Robert Ljwendowski's penalty was parried and France keeper Mezclan was fouled as Poland equalized in the 79th minute.

The match between the Netherlands and Austria was equally up and down. The Netherlands launched a furious attack in the opening six minutes and Gap equalized in the 47th minute of the second half, but Lovenu Schmidt scored in the 59th minute to put Austria back in front. Diby equalized in the 75th minute, but Austria sealed the win five minutes later with a goal from Schaubisa to beat the Netherlands 3-2 and top the group. The Netherlands finished in third place despite the defeat.
