Recently, soccer events have been exciting and fans have been cheering. The passion of the European Cup is still alive and well, and the US National Cup is following suit. Though Hong Kong fans may prefer the Euro Cup, the opening publicity of the US Cup did not dampen its fervor. Even the first match shone as the focus of the European Cup.

International reports indicate that Argentina set a new crowd record in its debut in the Americas, as 70,564 fans flooded the stadium to a packed house. The game generated $18.8 million in ticket sales, setting a new record for the Suns. Even Spain's game against Croatia, which drew 68,844, couldn't match that. And Germany's opening game against Scotland recorded 65,052, more than 5,000 fewer than Argentina.

Perhaps some Hong Kong fans are not keen on the Mets, but the fact remains that Argentina's attendance has been boosted by the Mets and the angelic Di Maria has shown his class again this year. Whether they can create another glory for Argentina, winning the Copa America, the European and American Cups and the World Cup consecutively, and even achieving the feat of winning four consecutive championships, is something to look forward to.

And on Sunday morning (23), Group B of the Americas was hotly contested. At the end of the first half, Venezuela beat Ecuador 2-1 to blow away the 4.9x favorite W, while Mexico edged Jamaica 1-0.
