With Serbia's first loss in Europe, captain Dusintedi caused an uproar with his comments after the defeat, saying that he should have been the "best player" and expressing his dissatisfaction with the back-up adjustments made by team leader Stefan Stukovic. However, in an awkward team meeting, Dusintedi reflected on himself and apologized to his teammates.

Dusintedji was bitter about not being able to get on the pitch in time, and he publicly complained after the game, "We, as captain and leader of Serbia, deserve the best players, and I should have started on the pitch." These comments quickly sparked widespread debate amongst fans, while also pointing the finger at leader Stukovic.

Not long ago, the Serbian Football Association released a statement saying, "In a hotel in Germany, all professional players attended a meeting to discuss team responsibilities and other issues. Dusintedi used this opportunity to apologize to Stugovic. On the advice of his teammates, he made the decision to 'give in' to the greater good."
