Plymouth Football Club has announced in high profile that former Manchester United star Ronny has joined the club to take on the role of team leader. It is reported that this cooperation will last for three years. Ronny, the 38-year-old soccer guru, is expected to step into the green field of Manchester United again, however, his final choice with the Red Devils team is to seek a breakthrough in the Champions League together.
Since retiring from the game, Ronnie has maintained strong links with the Championship. He was in charge of both Bishop's County and Birmingham. Despite his attempts to return to professional soccer in the United States, joining D.C. United, it seems that his managerial career in England has not been as impressive as his former on-pitch exploits. Three managers have been made redundant due to poor results, with Ronnie taking over at Birmingham last October only to record two wins, with the pressure peaking at the beginning of January.
Ronnie, who took over the coaching reins at Plymouth, said: "I am grateful to the club's management for their trust in me and this is a new chapter in my career. We will be committed to building a strong team and showing the wonderful art of soccer. However, outsiders are generally cautious about Ronnie's prospects at Plymouth. Given Plymouth's fourth-place ranking in the Championship and fragile defense, coupled with Ronnie's past coaching record, it is questionable whether the team will be able to turn things around next season.
