In the wee hours of the morning, Saudi rivals Ainas beat Aqahli 3-1 at home on Thursday (2), and the hero behind the victory was undoubtedly Portuguese superstar C Ronaldo, who scored twice, while showing leadership by letting Shadio Vinny run the show in the penalty shootout.
Despite a slump in the league after being red carded against Hilal in early April, C Ronaldo shocked the crowd with a brilliant half-volley on 17 minutes in today's clash against Ekahli. Ainas were awarded a penalty kick on 37 minutes and C Ronaldo took it himself to help his side take a 2-0 lead. In the second half, he scored twice more, while Ekahli equalized late in the game to seal a 3-1 win for Ainas.
C Ronaldo has scored 45 goals in all competitions this season and at the age of 39 still maintains an efficient goal-scoring rate and is in excellent shape for the upcoming summer Europa League final week. With Aynas beating their rivals in the Saudi final, they will be in contention with Hilal for the title.
