While the first leg of the Europa League quarterfinals was in full swing, Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) French star Lukas Di Maria suffered an unfortunate injury during the Dormition match. After a detailed medical examination, he was diagnosed with a severe cruciate ligament tear in his left knee and is expected to be out of action for six to seven months, which means that he will not be able to play for his team in the second leg of the Europa League quarterfinals, as well as missing the final week of the Europa League in the summer.

The 28-year-old moved to PSG from Bayern Munich this season and quickly became a key figure in the defense trusted by coach Anriki. After the UEFA Europa League match, PSG released an official statement saying, "Following medical examinations and MRIs, it has been confirmed that Lucas Di Maria has torn the cruciate ligament in his left knee and that he will undergo surgery in the next few days." His recovery time is expected to be around six to seven months, according to sources.

Lucas Di Maria, who can play both as a center back and left back, has been a central force in the French national team. When fit, he is undoubtedly the first choice of the Digance leaders. Although France still has strong players like Upamecano, Ibarra, William Saliba and Julian Gould to choose from, there are not many available for the left back position. There are rumors that Lucas Deeney or Ferran Torres could be the replacement.
