Manchester United captain Tannhägger's managerial career has had its ups and downs, with rumors swirling about him losing his job. Despite news that United are planning a new managerial change in the summer, Tannhägger seems to be at peace with this. Dutch media reports suggest that former Ajax leader Gowers, now an analyst at sports and entertainment group SEG, has named Tanhag as his number one choice to return to his hometown Ajax.
In March, Gowers was briefly CEO of the Ajax, only to be suspended for alleged insider trading. After submitting the relevant evidence, he made a smooth transition to director and embarked on a search for a new coach rather than waiting for his contract to expire at the end of the season. According to Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan, Tannhäuser is exactly what Gowers has in mind, especially after United's season finale, and Ajax is expected to step in quickly to snatch him up.
Dating back to 2000, Gowers founded the sports and entertainment group SEG and now holds the position of analyst. The two have grown close since Tannhäuser became United manager, including initiatives that led to the signing of Helen. However, early-season allegations of conflict of interest overshadowed Gowers' plans to bring Thanhaug back to Ajax.
