With Liverpool losing the midweek clash, the dream of winning the title seems to be drifting away, and this battle has become the prelude to Klopp's departure. As the season comes to an end, Klopp's departure is a foregone conclusion, while Moyes' fate at Westham remains a mystery. Looking back at the past two years of Moyes and Westham, the results have been impressive, however, they seem to have sensed the end of their glory. Like Liverpool, I firmly believe that Westham's season has come to an end. In the midst of a fierce battle for a European place, and facing the disadvantage of the number of matches, coupled with an earlier exit from the Europa League, the Hammers seem to be left fighting for their dignity.
The hype surrounding Crystal Palace seemed to be expected in the clash with Leverkusen. Westham have won just four of their 21 matches in 2024 and the East London side are desperate to get out of their second-half slump.
Meanwhile, Liverpool suffered a Waterloo against city rivals Ewarton, and the team seemed to have lost their former sharpness. The loss widened the gap between them and leaders Arsenal to three points, and despite being two games ahead of Manchester City, their recent performances have not been in keeping with the temperament of a title-winning team. Their mistakes at crucial moments allowed their opponents to overtake them in the second half, which undoubtedly casts a shadow on their road to the title.
Klopp will face a tough challenge in Saturday's opening game. As an ex-player myself, I always like to throw myself quickly into the early games of the following week after a loss as a way of thinking less and bouncing back quickly. I'm sure this game will be no different and Liverpool will be expected to get back to the thrill of victory. After all, they have won 13 of their last 14 league matches, while Westham have only picked up 3 points from those 14 matches, so I'm confident that the Reds will manage to bounce back.
