In an early morning Premier League feast on Saturday, Newcastle won the league for the second consecutive season with a 4-0 home finish over speculative Tottenham, paving the way for Europa League qualification next season. Tottenham, on the other hand, fell behind on points with the loss, with Ashton Villa following on 60 points but dropping to fifth in the league due to the points difference.

Tottenham's funereal attack was met with a counter-attack from Newcastle, who used tough robbery tactics to great effect. Anthony Gordon assisted in the 30th minute and Alexander Ishak opened the scoring for the Magpies. Just two minutes later, Newcastle were robbed in front of the goal, Tottenham's Kashiwazaki Parker missed a pass under pressure, and Anthony Gorton calmly slotted the ball into the far post to make it 2-0 at half-time.

In the second half, the game remained tight. Tottenham Hotspur continued to attack, while Newcastle grew stronger and stronger, and after only five minutes, Alexander Ishaq made it 3-0 with a solo goal from a sublime Gumarez pass, taking his tally to 17 goals, and tying him with Liverpool's Mohammed Sana for third place in the league's top scoring charts.

As the game progressed, Tottenham adjusted their formation, removing captain Son Heung-min and replacing him with Gourcuff. Dimwah tried to change the striker position to center forward, but it was ineffective. Instead, Fabian Shuha sealed the win for Newcastle in the 87th minute of the game with a deadly long range shot to make it 4-0.
