While Miami star Mays was in Hong Kong for a religious fast, it unexpectedly sparked an outcry from fans that even reached his club owner David Beckham. The former England star did not travel with the team to Japan, but was earlier caught secretly traveling to Qatar to watch the Asian Cup quarterfinal match between Jordan and South Korea. Surprisingly, he didn't leave immediately after watching the match, instead opting to stay in the area and play a game of plate tennis against former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) teammate Marko Valiant.
