The friendly match between FC Miami and the Hong Kong soccer team on Friday (4) drew global attention when the crowd booed despite the absence of a star-studded line-up led by King Mays. Michel Lamunière, Chairman and CEO of Tatler Asia, called an emergency press conference on Saturday evening (5) to explain the situation, revealing that the International Miami team doctors had assessed that the players, including Mays, were unable to take part in the exhibition match due to injury. He expressed his deep regret for this and apologized to the fans. At the same time, he also announced that he would withdraw the HK$16 million sponsorship he had originally planned to invest and had applied to the Hong Kong government. After briefly explaining the situation, Michel did not stay and left the venue without responding to reporters' questions.
