In the just-concluded English Premier League (EPL) match, Manchester United's midfielder, Maneo Maneo, helped his team turn the game around and beat Wolverhampton Wanderers with a brilliant strike in the final stages of the match, and his outstanding performance has made the whole audience stare at him, and his popularity index has skyrocketed. According to the Times, the Ghana Football Association has sent its staff to actively lobby the 18-year-old British-born star, hoping that he can "recognize his ancestor" and represent the Ghanaian national team, so England may lose a very talented player.
Maneo, whose parents are both Ghanaians, was born in Stourport, England, which gives him the right to choose to play for either the England or Ghana national teams. The versatile player has represented England's U17, U18 and U19 teams but is yet to be promoted to the national team. It was reported that England boss, Shoufki, met with Maneo at the end of last year in a bid to convince him to join the Lions, however, Shoufki did not give a firm commitment that he would be called up to the national team.
