Miami's international soccer extravaganza, led by superstar Mays, is set to sweep through seven cities around the world in 2024, but the first round of the tournament is experiencing ticketing woes and organizers are worried. In a report on the Hong Kong leg of the event, it was revealed that the original contract did not ensure that Mays would be present, and that if Mays were to miss the event, there would be an uproar.

Let's take a quick look at the exciting itinerary for the Maiami International Soccer Tour. Running from mid-January through February, the tournament will span seven cities and will pit teams including El Salvador, FC Dallas, Hilaire, Ainas, a local Hong Kong team, Kobe Victory and Newell's Old Boys.

The first stop on the tour landed in El Salvador, and the contract stipulated that Mays would be required to play at least 20 minutes. However, despite this, ticket sales have remained sluggish. Only one week into the tournament, only 30% of tickets were sold. Reports point to high costs and expensive ticket prices as the main cause. While Maia Mi International's appearance fee is as high as US$3.5 million, local fans can hardly afford the highest ticket price of up to US$200 (about HK$1,560), which makes the box office situation worrying and the risk of losing money high.
