With the drums beating for the Afcon, Cameroonian goalkeeper Onana in the Manchester United squad has chosen to stick to his post and has not reported to the national team. Even in the just-concluded EFL Cup match against League One side Wigan, he played the whole match as a starter, which made the substitute goalkeeper Biondia, who joined the team at the same time, feel lost, and rumor has it that the 25-year-old Turkish international has started to seek a transfer.

Onana was due to report back to the squad after the Premier League fixture at the end of the month, however, following a positive campaign by United, the Cameroonian FA agreed to allow him to continue to play in the late-night Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday (14th) before returning to the national team. Due to time constraints, Onana will not be available to play for Cameroon in their opening group game against Guinea in the early hours of next Tuesday (16th).

If Cameroon exits early in the group stage, Onana will be able to return to United on January 24th, and then substitute goalkeeper Biondia will again be a spectator, after all, he has not played since joining the club in the summer. In contrast, Oulana has been a regular in the starting lineup despite his mistakes. Biondia had hoped that Onana would be given a chance to perform due to the departure of the NCAA Cup, but the current situation seems to be very disappointing, which has made him think about leaving the club.
