As the January transfer window is set to reopen, Manchester United are actively clearing their squad of redundant players. Following the loan move of midfield general Wendy Bick to Eintracht Frankfurt, striker Anthony Martial is also likely to bid farewell to Old Trafford this month. According to Turkish media outlet Takvim, Turkish Super League giants Fehrenbach are interested in bringing in the 28-year-old French shot-stopper for a fee of £6.8 million (HK$68 million).
Anthony Martial has only six months left on his contract with Manchester United, and he now has the right to talk to other clubs about joining the club. It is reported that Fehrenbach are eager to complete the acquisition of Madier within this month, even if they have to pay a transfer fee of £6.8 million, so as not to wait until the summer to sign him on a free and be snatched by other competitors.
In fact, Manchester United and Feirenbach already had two transactions in the last summer, the Red Devils sold midfielder Fite to Feirenbach for £8.5 million (about HK$85 million), and bought the opponent's goalkeeper, Biondia, for £4.3 million (about HK$43 million), which shows the close relationship between the two clubs. United would not want to see Anthony Martial leave the club as a free agent, as they would lose both the player and the transfer revenue, so I believe they would not mind reselling Martial to Fehrenbach at a lower price.
Anthony Martial joined United from Monaco in 2015 for a transfer fee of £36 million (HK$360 million), and was once touted as the "new Henry". However, his performance has failed to live up to expectations, with only one goal in 13 matches in the Premier League this season, and rumors have it that United may give up on him.
