Recently, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) issued a stern warning to the Brazilian Football Association (CBF), stating that if the Brazilian FA continues to tolerate outside forces interfering in its internal affairs, leading to the necessity of reelecting its president, the Brazilian national team and domestic clubs will be completely banned from all international competitions.

The trigger stems from a December 7 ruling by the Rio de Janeiro Regional Court on irregularities in the 2022 presidential election by current Brazilian FA president Ainaldo Rodrigues, which invalidated his election and dismissed him from the presidency with immediate effect. This ruling was subsequently upheld by both branches of the Brazilian Supreme Court. Given that FIFA has historically prohibited any third party from intervening in the internal affairs of member FAs, the organization sent a strongly worded warning letter to the Brazilian FA, stressing the need for an immediate response to swiftly complete the presidential election and ensure the departure of Ainaldo Rodrigues. Otherwise, Brazil's footballing force will face an international ban, which may mean that Brazil will miss out on the upcoming Copa America, which kicks off on June 20, 2024.
