In the Premier League Sunday (3) morning battle, Newcastle in their own home to beat Manchester United by a narrow margin of 1-0, however, the cost of this victory is very painful. Starting goalkeeper Nick Purby made a diving save at the end of the game, but unfortunately landed on the ground with a suspected dislocated shoulder. Coach Eddie Howe said after the game that the injury was "not optimistic" and that he was afraid of needing surgery, which increased Newcastle's injury list to 12.

Despite his relatively easy task in this game, Nick Pupi still wasted no time in making a flying save in the 82nd minute, and immediately after landing, he raised his hand to signal his injury, which was helplessly taken over by substitute Dubafka. After the match, Eddie Howe lamented, "The most disappointing part of the game was Nick Purby's injury. He suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder and it looked bad. He has been through a similar situation before and managed to overcome it with surgery. I'm not sure if he'll still need surgery this time around, that's something to consult a specialist on. Nick Purby's absence will undoubtedly have a major impact on the team."
