The original intention of the VAR system is to reduce the number of misjudgments, however, the reality is contrary to it. On Monday (13th), a remarkable episode occurred in the Barclays Premier League. During the away match of Corrientes against Gamboa, the staff of the visiting team, who was dissatisfied with the VAR decision, rushed to the VAR studio with the intention of questioning the referee on the spot, but fortunately, a few security guards stopped them in time.
In the marquee match between Gammeo and Corrientes at home, controversy arose after only 10 minutes of play. The referee did not call a foul on the striker, who was knocked down by an opponent in the penalty area, which led to strong protests from the visiting players. Gammeo then countered with a kick from Corrientes defender Bonaventure, who was originally shown a yellow card, but after VAR intervened, it was eventually upgraded to a red card.
The players were furious at the decision, and team director and former player Aleksindo Niunis was even more furious, as he returned to the stadium and rushed to the VAR control room, but was stopped by several security guards outside the door. When Aleksandr Nunes saw the journalists, he questioned the reporters who were filming the scene. Despite playing a man short at one point, Corrientes eventually won by a score of 1-0.
