United, struggling amidst a wave of criticism, made it two league wins in a row on Sunday night (12) with a narrow 1-0 home win over Luton to climb above Newcastle into 6th place in the table. The game was United manager Tannhäuser's 50th Premier League campaign, and despite the crisis of his dismissal, he has nevertheless scored more points (than Liverpool boss Gopdo) in his first 50 games at United, second only to legendary manager Alex Ferguson in the history of the club.
Although Manchester United took control of the game, the strikers remained cold and their first goal in the Premier League was still out of reach. Helen missed two great chances and the Red Devils once again relied on their defenders to score. Swedish international Viktorian Dilov scored his first goal for United since three years ago with a shot from a mix-up in the box, helping the team to a 1-0 win.
The game was Tannhäuser's 50th league game in charge of United, and he won 30 of those 50 games, a new record in United's history. Ironically, he scored 96 points in his first 50 games, surpassing Gop's first 50 games in charge of Liverpool (92 points), and even surpassing United's former coaches such as Molenu (95 points) and Younger (94 points), and ranking second in United's history behind Ferguson (103 points).
