Nottingham Forest launched a visual feast to Crystal Palace in their home ground in the EPL this evening. Led by Newnor, Forest's initial performance was quite impressive, and their solid defense became their major killer app. Their tactic was to constantly attack Crystal Palace's defense, frequently creating threats and scoring goals one after another, almost 2.5 goals per game.
The first word that comes to mind when you think of Newnoo is "boring". During his time at Tottenham Hotspur, his tactics were flawless but lacked variety, often leading to stalemates and eventual dismissals. However, when he took over at the mid-table side, he showed remarkable success. Whether it was his previous spell at Wolves or taking over Forest in the middle of last season, he managed to stabilize the team. So far this season, Forest have been consistent, with two wins and five losses after eight games, but only one defeat, including a stunning win over Liverpool at Anfield. They don't mind playing a "boring" attacking game, with a tight defense and Keith Hart as the fulcrum, partnering Hector Bellerin and Alan Shildt, which is simple and straightforward, which explains why they have scored 8 goals in 8 games, conceding only 7, and scoring less than 2 goals in 6 out of 7 matches.
On the other hand, Crystal Palace's biggest problem this season has been a weak attack. In the summer, midfielder Michael Ollis was released, which made Ibil Isis a key player in the attacking organization, and therefore the main target of the opponents. Striker Sam Madida returned from the Olympics in poor form, picking up just two goals in the league. Nikidia, who was signed from Arsenal, has been diligent but has not scored many goals and is yet to score, making Crystal Palace lackluster at the attacking end. So far, they are winless in 7 league matches, scoring only 5 goals, and it will be difficult to make a breakthrough against the solid defense of Forest.
