In recent years, Premier League giants Arsenal have shown a strong interest in Brazilian soccer, with Brazilian director Ido playing a major role. Recently, the Arsenal executive took advantage of the international break to return to his home country and visited several Brazilian clubs. Not long ago, he was photographed appearing at FC Fuminges, where it was reported that he had his eye on 22-year-old midfield star Trindadei, with the intention of poaching him from Liverpool.

Trindadei was originally expected to land at Liverpool during the summer transfer window as part of Brazil's latest national team squad. However, the deal was put on hold for a while as Fominis insisted on not releasing him. Liverpool reportedly planned to relaunch their attack in January. But the Brazilian media broke the news that Arsenal have joined the battle. Trindadei's contract is said to contain a buyout clause and the transfer fee is expected to be around £21.5 million (about HK$215 million).
