According to revelations in the British media, Manchester United midfield centerpiece McTomini has managed to turn his fortunes around with his recent stunning performances, freeing himself from the purge list, not needing to leave the club next January, and beginning to earn the trust of new manager Tannhäuser.
The Mirror further revealed that McTomini had been listed as one of the cleaning targets by Manchester United this summer, although West Ham United had made a £30 million offer, but due to the price failed to reach an agreement, Manchester United eventually refused to sell, McTomini was able to stay in the team. However, under Tannhäuser, he was not utilized, and made only six appearances throughout the season, two of which were starts, while the remaining five were on the bench.
With the signing of Sufn Rabot, McTomini's appearances became ever more scarce, and the general opinion was that he was bound to be sold next January. However, one unexpected game changed his fortunes completely. Against Binford, with the game coming to a close, McTomini came on as a substitute and scored twice in stoppage time to help turn the game around and eventually win 2-1, giving Onana, Tanhag and the whole team a victory.
