Recently, Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool game broke out in the "VAR scandal" once again triggered the Premier League refereeing level widely questioned. In this controversy, VAR referee Englund became a target. However, according to the disclosure of the Daily Telegraph, the chairman of the British professional referee company (PGMOL) Webby made an unexpected decision: he did not fire Englund, but decided to "punish" him, that is, to prohibit him from refereeing Liverpool matches in this season.

It has been reported that Englund and Quirk, who were excluded from this week's Premier League enforcement list for some reason, have lost £1,200 (about HK$12,000) worth of refereeing fees each. Nonetheless, Webby has chosen to retain Englund's position, only stripping him of his enforcement credentials for his involvement in the Liverpool game this season.
