As the night draws in, Saturday's Premier League feast is about to kick off with a gripping contest. Both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have gone through changes compared to last season, but as of now, both teams are showing positive results from the reforms.
Speaking of Tottenham Hotspur, I explored last week the resilience that Coach Pusdigolu brings to the table, a feat that was reaffirmed by their tenacity in clawing their way back to level even after falling behind twice to their city rivals.
Coach Pusdiguero has injected belief into the team from the very beginning of his tenure, and I firmly believe that Spurs will only get better under his leadership. Not only has he put steel in his team, but he has also given two midfielders, Bissouma and Berbicea, a great season, creating space for the more creative players to attack. James Maddison has been in fine form, Galuszewski has been a constant threat, and new captain Son Heung-min has been a mainstay of the team.
Son Heung-min wasn't at his best last season, but with captaincy duties, he has picked up his form this season and has become an integral part of the team, second only to Ainin Sharanth in the scorer's list. During the match, Son Heung-min and other players made a huge impact on the game by attacking using openings in key positions on the pitch.
However, Zukomis hasn't been playing well at right wing recently and I think Tottenham will target this area of weakness. Brendan Johnson, being an excellent runner without the ball, can play strongly behind Zukomis, while Son Heung-min can also pull to the wing and beat him 1-on-1 on the flanks. As we saw in Tottenham's first goal away to Arsenal, Maddison is able to get into defensive positions on both sides of the ball and has the ability to get past defenders or wing co-conspirators and into the heart of the opposition box.
I'd be surprised if Coach Gopp goes with a pure gate player like Semelkas. But if he doesn't, Zukomis could be in for a rough afternoon.
While the defense of Zugomez and the Liverpool players has not been a strong point this season, the midfield and attacking players have certainly improved.
Liverpool's midfield has been revamped, energized and fresh, relieving me of one of my major concerns about them heading into this season. At certain stages, the opposition midfield did have the upper hand, but with the slightest slip-up, Liverpool were able to expose the opposition's openings through counter-attacks and punish them with goals.
Liverpool players are in great form and it is good for the manager to see players, whether they are regulars or not, impacting the game by scoring goals. The goals scored by Mohamed Sanaa, Dawun Nunes, Diago Zuda, Gap and Luis Diaz since the start of the season and more recently in league and European competitions have done exactly that. It shows Liverpool's strength in attacking positions and the ability of their players to strike the killer blow that will pose a threat to the Tottenham Hotspur defense, which has kept only 1 league game without conceding a goal.
Among the many good attackers, Shana is undoubtedly the leader. In his last 4 games, he has contributed 3 goals and 5 assists and is in hot form. Tottenham will know everything about him. He has scored 11 goals in 18 games against Spurs and I wouldn't be surprised if he scores again in this game.
We've gotten used to seeing this match as a showdown between Sana and Harry Carney. But after the departure of Kani, this match will largely depend on who performs better between Son Heung-min and Sana.
