Chelsea have had a poor season, but managed to break their embarrassing streak of three consecutive clean sheets with a 1-0 win over Brighton in the 3rd round of the EFL Cup at home on Thursday (28th). However, the cost of this victory was not small, as star player Chiville suffered an unfortunate injury late in the game and is expected to be out of action for a few weeks.

Nevertheless, Chelsea's attacking triangle of Medillieu, Nicolas Jackson and Galpenma was still in place in this match, and although they were not as good as their opponents in terms of ball control, solid defense was the key to the match. Nicolas Jackson's 51st-minute strike from distance sealed the win for Chelsea and sent their rivals, Brisbane Rovers, to the last 16.

However, Chelsea's injury problems were not alleviated by the victory. Towards the end of the match, left back Chivier was injured while taking advantage of the substitution time, making the team have to play with 10 men. After the match, coach Putjetenu confirmed the news: "Zivier is indeed injured, we need to examine him further, and the initial judgment is that it may be a problem with the thigh hamstring."
