Manchester City endured the adversity of conceding the first three goals at home in their UEFA Europa League Group G clash at dawn on Wednesday, only to come from behind to beat Red Star Belgrade 3-1 at the last minute and get their title defense campaign off to a good start. However, the victory came at a high price, as Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva suffered an unfortunate injury and coach Pep Guardiola confirmed that he will be out of action for a few weeks, which will undoubtedly pose a challenge to the team's lineup.
Manchester City are currently riddled with injuries and will only be able to field eight substitutes (out of a maximum of 12), two of whom will be goalkeepers. Although the "Blue Moon Army" dominated the first half with more than 20 shots on goal, Bernardo Silva left the game with an injury in the 44th minute, and trailed 0-1 at the end of the first half, which was an unexpected turn of events.
Luckily for City, they revitalized in the second half, with Zulian Evaris blistering an equalizer just two minutes after the change of sides. The Argentine striker scored again in the 60th minute, and along with UEFA finalist Lodikas Jandi's 73rd-minute goal, helped City complete the comeback with a 3-1 win. In the other match in the same group, RB Leipzig beat Young Boys 3-1 away from home to join City at the top of the table.
