The English soccer world has been in turmoil lately, with international footballer Evan Anthony being suspended for up to eight months after being severely sanctioned by the FA for allegedly gambling on football matches. However, Nottingham Forest's Khalitov Road was also suspended for five months on Wednesday (13) for gambling, despite pleading guilty to 375 gambling offences, with a suspended sentence until the end of the 24/25 season. The 28-year-old defender remains included in Forest's 25-man Premier League squad.
Khalitov Road faced 375 charges of betting offences relating to his entire three-year career with Norwich. The FA's Independent Investigation Committee ultimately decided to impose a five-month suspension and a fine of around £20,000 (around HK$200,000), but the suspension was suspended until the end of the 24/25 season. Although he pleaded guilty to over 100 more charges than Evantoni, Evantoni's suspension is for 8 months with immediate effect.
