In the early hours of Sunday morning, an international warm-up matchup blew up with a stunning result, as Japan defeated Germany by a massive 4-1 score on the road. After the group stage of the last World Cup, the Japanese team once again gave a heavy blow to the European powerhouse. After the match, the German players were dumbfounded and incredulous at the humiliating defeat. According to the "transfer authority" reporter Romano (Fabrizio Romano) revealed that the German team leader Fei Liq may once again face a crisis of dismissal, whether he can lead the team to participate in next year's European Cup final week into the unknown.
Germany, as hosts of next year's final week of the European Cup and not required to participate in the play-offs, used the international period to make an appointment to play Japan in what seemed to be an attempt to avenge their World Cup loss. However, they suffered an even worse defeat. Germany conceded first after only 11 minutes of play, with Japan wing Junya Ito breaking the deadlock with a narrow-angle shot. Although Lilezini quickly equalized for Germany, Japan took over the game with a cross from the right by Junya Ito, which was followed up by Eisei Ueda for the second goal to make the score 2-1.
Germany failed to equalize and completely collapsed towards the end of the match. Two Japanese players who came on as substitutes, Takuma Asano and Bea Tanaka, broke through for Germany, both goals thanks to assists from Kenyoung Kubo. It was Germany's biggest defeat in the last three years since a 0-6 defeat against Spain in November 2020 in the UEFA Nations League. The players were dejected, with captain Gendo Jane close to tears.
After the match, Germany's head coach Felix, however, still insisted that his team did well: "I think we did very well, and I am still the best choice to lead the team." Since August 2021, when Felix took charge of Germany, the team's results have been disappointing, including an exit from the group stage of the last World Cup, only one draw in the last five warm-up matches, and a total loss in the remaining four. It's no wonder Romano pointed out that Ferrick is in an exit crisis and took to social media to ask which would be the next head coach.
