The domestic abuse controversy surrounding Manchester United midfield centerpiece Anthony Maffeos is intensifying. On Friday (8), the Brazilian media revealed that two more women had joined the ranks of those accusing Anthony, news that puts even more public pressure on the United club, who have yet to impose a ban on him. Meanwhile, the Brazilian international's violent tendencies have also sparked widespread suspicion.
Anthony's ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin has filed four assault charges against him, which are being investigated by São Paulo and Manchester police. Brazilian media outlet Jornal Extra further revealed that this is not the first time Anthony has faced such charges. In May 2022, it was reported that Brazilian police had received a report from a woman, Rayssa de Freitas, that she had been attacked by Anthony and Dudu's ex-wife, Mallu Ohana, after leaving a nightclub in São Paulo and had undergone a hospital examination for injuries.
This wave of controversy has yet to die down, as a third victim, Ingrid Lana, revealed in an interview with Record TV that the 33-year-old bank employee claimed to have been assaulted by Anthony last October. She described in the interview, "Anthony tried to have sex with me but I refused, he then pushed me against a wall and hit me on the head." The interview will reportedly air on Sunday (10) and more "shocking revelations" are expected.
