Liverpool have suffered repeated setbacks in their bid to attract reinforcements this summer, and after losing the battle for players three times, appear to be facing a fourth blow. Their long coveted Wolves midfield centerpiece, Mafios Nunes, has just accepted an offer from Manchester City to join the Blue Moon Army. The transfer fee is the same as that offered by Liverpool, both at £50 million (about HK$500 million). In order to prevent a long night, Manchester City intends to complete the deal within 48 hours.
Liverpool's squad renewal has fallen short of expectations despite bringing in players such as Alex McAllister, Suboslar and Hang Endo this summer. They were eager to sign Zudi Binningham, but the latter chose Real Madrid. As for Moses Katsudo and Romeo Lavia, they were snapped up by Chelsea. Recently, Liverpool pushed full speed ahead with negotiations for Mafios Nunes, only to be saddened by the possibility of another loss.
