Manchester United, who had an unfavorable start to the new season, suffered another Waterloo in a closed-door warm-up match on Wednesday (23), facing promotion rivals Bonny, and surprisingly suffered a 0-3 defeat, which made manager Tannhäuser doubly frustrated. According to the French newspaper L'Equipe, United plans to continue to bring in strong reinforcements before the transfer window closes, with Nice's French center back Tudibao rumored to be on the verge of joining for a transfer fee of up to 34 million pounds (about HK$340 million).

United's record currently stands at 1 win and 1 loss, with a disappointing overall performance despite beating Wolves in their opening game, and were swept aside by Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the last round. Before facing Nottingham Forest on Saturday (26th), Tannhäuser specially arranged a warm-up match at the Carrington training base against the newly promoted Bonny. For the match, United fielded just seven first-team players and a combination of newcomers, including Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes.

Although United only fielded a half-strength side, the substitutes were never able to improve their form, especially with Mason Mount out for a month with an injury, and the likes of Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes were given a chance to play. However, against Bonny, United could not find a breakthrough at all and ended up losing 0-3. A number of the game's starters may have their positions in even more jeopardy as a result.
