As the Women's World Cup builds to a climax in Australia and New Zealand, it has not only set new records for tickets and spectator attendance, but has also managed to ignite the passion of women's soccer around the world. Soccer Australia chief executive James Johnson has revealed that they are seriously weighing up whether to apply for the right to host the 2034 World Cup.

This year's Women's World Cup sold more than 1.5 million tickets and attracted more than 1.8 million spectators, an average of nearly 30,000 per match. Australia's historic run to the quarterfinals and England's and Spain's final appearances wrote a new chapter in history. The success of the tournament has prompted the AFL to start thinking about the possibility of bidding to host the 2034 World Cup.

James Johnson further stated that after successfully hosting an unprecedented Women's World Cup, our doors are open. We are now seriously considering applying to host the World Cup in 2034.
