Former Arsenal star Cindy Cazorla, who is 38 years old but not done yet, is set to return to Oviedo, where he made his fortune, after bidding farewell to Qatari rivals Al-Assad this summer, came the heavy news on Thursday (17). It's a 20-year reunion for Cindy Cazorla since he left in 2003. Not only is he willing to accept the lowest level of salary in the Liga B - £1,500 (about HK$15,000) per week - but he is also generous enough to donate 10 percent of the income from his likeness rights to Oviedo.
Cindy Cazorla won the league twice during his time with Essad. After his contract expired in the summer, he was rumored to have been offered an assistant coaching role at Barcelona by his former teammate Xavi, however, instead of opting for retirement, he chose to return to Oviedo, the parent club of his youth training years. Oviedo was the place where he made his debut and he spent seven years there, before making his mark at Villarreal and then reaching the peak of his career at Arsenal. Unfortunately, a series of injuries almost put him out of action, but who would have thought that the veteran would be able to continue to play at the age of 38.
