English soccer has once again witnessed the loss of the Golden Boot striker after Bayern Munich signed three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner Harry Carney in a row. Last season's Championship top scorer, Aikabong, officially announced his transfer from Middlesbrough to Dutch First Division giants Ajax on Thursday (17th) for a fee of £12.2 million (HK$122 million), and will wear Ajax's No.10 kit.

Ekpong, 27, played for Middlesbrough last season and was honored as the Championship's top scorer with 28 goals. However, Middlesex failed to make it to the Premier League after they lost out in the promotion playoffs. After the news of joining Ajax, Ekpong commented: "I would like to thank the whole team of Middlesbrough for supporting me, and I am very proud of what I experienced last season. Now I have a new challenge, Ajax is one of the best clubs in the world and I can't wait to play for Ajax.
