Arsenal narrowly beat Forest 2-1 in the opening game of the new Premier League season, however, the joy of that victory was quickly overshadowed. Dutch starlet Zulian Timba unfortunately left the field early in the second half with an injury. Arsenal released an official statement on Tuesday (15th), confirming that Timba has suffered a serious injury to his right knee, suspected ACL damage, and the recovery period could be as long as several months, which is undoubtedly a huge blow to the team.
Timba joined Arsenal in the summer for a transfer fee of £34 million (about HK$340 million) and quickly became a key player for the team. However, he suffered a serious injury in his first match, with an official statement from Arsenal confirming that he had suffered a serious injury to his right knee and would require a full assessment before deciding on a treatment plan, with a recovery period expected to last several months. Thankfully, Ukrainian wing-back Sim Zhenko is set to resume his role as starting left-back after just regaining his fitness.
