Saudi Arabia's Hilal, who are actively plotting a move for Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) superstar Nima, are rumored to have made significant progress. According to "transfer expert" Fabrizio Romano, the West Asian giants have prepared the relevant transfer documents and contracts, and booked a time for the 31-year-old Brazilian international's medical examination, just waiting for Nima to make a final decision.
Hilal reportedly offered Nima a transfer fee of up to 100 million euros (about HK$855 million), which was more than half of PSG's 2017 purchase price, but PSG eventually agreed to the price given Nima's age and frequent injury problems. Nima was not included in the starting lineup for last week's French Ligue 1 match against Lorient.
More enticingly, Hilal has offered Nima a 2-year deal with an annual salary of 160 million euros (about HK$1.37 billion), up from the previous 100 million euros, an offer that is extremely attractive to Nima. Romano emphasized that Hilal has all the official documents ready and the legal team is on standby, so once Nima accepts the contract, the medical examination can take place immediately. If things go well, Hilal is expected to hold a grand welcoming ceremony on Wednesday (16th) to officially announce Nima's arrival.
It is worth mentioning that Hilar has already successfully signed Chelsea midfielder Golibani, Wolves midfielder Ruben Nieves and Lazio midfielder Milan Govic Savage and other strong reinforcements this summer. The potential addition of Nima will give the team much more strength in both offense and defense, and a more balanced third-line lineup.
